Raised Beds and Composting Workshop
Thursday, August 22
5:30-7:30 pm

Raised bed planting and composting are a great gardening combo for growing vegetables and flowers. Rather than a detailed historical review on the topic, Heritage's Curator of Hydrangeas Mal Condon will share the best practices he has evolved over his considerable experience, always with emphasis on practicality, simplicity, economics, and – above all – best results.

This small-group workshop session is geared toward home gardeners who wish to learn practical how-to techniques. Mal enjoys sharing his knowledge and there will be plenty of ongoing time for questions and discussion in this workshop. Following the program, you'll also receive a PDF file including presentation content for your reference. Advance registration is required, and we expect this program to sell out.

In order to provide the best possible experience, this program will take place at Heritage’s Maintenance Building. Please proceed directly to this location following the driving directions below. There is no need to check in at Heritage’s Admission Booth.

Directions:

  • Drive past Heritage Museums & Gardens’ main entrance on your left, veering to your left at the fork onto Shawme Road. Be advised that this is a very rough dirt road.
  • Take the next paved right turn up a small hill where you will see the gray and tan Maintenance Building (which you can also recognize by the garage doors on the front). There are parking spaces in front of the building.
  • Look for a Heritage staff member to check you in for the program.

Please plan to arrive between 5:15-5:25 pm to check-in at the Maintenance Building prior to the start of the workshop, which will begin promptly at 5:30 pm.

This program will take place outdoors, so please dress for the weather. It looks like it will be a perfect evening!

Program fees fund Heritage’s mission to inspire people of all ages to explore, discover, and learn together. Thank you for your support. Program Registration Fee: $30 Members, $40 Non-Members
